Substitute Teacher
Primary Objective:
· Responsible for teaching middle and / or high school students subject matter in a way that demonstrates a gift for teaching, a demonstrated competence of the academic discipline, and a genuine love for educating students. The teacher’s pedagogy is to communicate the love of a subject so that an average student is able to achieve understanding, demonstrate comprehension, and show an appreciation of the subject. In most cases the substitute teacher will need to implement lesson plans left by the instructor of record.

· Reports to Academic Dean
Competency and Qualifications:
· Gift of teaching
· Demonstrated general competence in academics
· Good classroom presentation skills
· Ability to effectively communicate with parents if necessary
· Agreement with Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision
· Genuine love for students
Knowledge and Expertise:
· College degree preferred
· Teaching experience preferred, especially in classical and Socratic methodology
· Ability to implement a variety of lesson plans across academic disciplines
· Adequate computer skills
Major Roles and Objectives:
· Teach assigned subjects and implement lesson plans for absent instructors of record
· Flexibility in schedule and general ability to teach across academic disciplines
· Manage classroom, including behavior issues
